A good drive stimulates sporting community

With an increasing number of event organisers (mostly Bollywood and programmes promoting local singing and dancing talent) knocking on the doors of commercial establishments for sponsorship with monetary support, businesses are becoming selective and even restrictive on the amount allocated.

However, projects and programmes that are aimed at recognising businesses, community and sports organisations for excellence could be assured of continued support, says Jasmit Kakkar, Manager, Wholesale Autos based in Papatoetoe and Takanini in South Auckland.

His company is the Sponsor of the ‘Best Under 19 Soccer Player of the Year’ category of the Indian Newslink Indian Sports Awards 2014.

“I am very careful in selecting sponsorship opportunities. I have confidence in Indian Newslink, which has consistently proved its uncompromising stand for quality, integrity and returning value for sponsors and advertisers,” he said.

Mr Kakkar understands the significance of honesty and integrity in life, career and business.

“We sell quality used vehicles with back-up services. The demand has prompted us to open another branch in Takanini recently,” he said.

High score

Mr Kakkar said the concept of Indian Sports Awards impressed him.

“I believe that recognising and rewarding sports achievers in the Indian community is a superb concept. I am sure that the Awards will grow from strength to strength year after year and evince wider interest of New Zealanders,” he said.

He said that the publication scored high by launching the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards (INLIBA) in 2008, which has grown bigger and better year after year.

“These Awards have become a benchmark for recognising success and growth of Indian businesses in the country and the Awards Night held every year in November.

Robust process

He said that he felt reassured of the robust judging process of the Sports Awards, similar to the well-established procedure for the INLIBA.

As constantly reported, a panel of judges, independent of this newspaper, ownership and management, will judge the entries received in the various categories of the Sports Awards and that their decision will be final.

“I look forward to the Awards Presentation Night on April 9,” Mr Kakkar said.
