A Tribute to Sir Anand Satyanand

We are happy to announce that the Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture will be held at Stamford Plaza Auckland on Monday, July 4, 2011 from 630 pm.

John Allen, Secretary & Chief Executive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade will be the Guest Speaker. Sir Anand, Lady Susan Satyanand and a number of other dignitaries will be present at the Lecture.

A powerful presenter and speaker, Mr Allen is well known for his advocacy of good Corporate Governance, which is the core of the Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture. Appointed to the current post in July 2009, Mr Allen leads the Ministry as the Government’s Chief Advisor on Foreign and Trade Policy, official development assistance, international law and diplomatic and consular issues. He reports to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Disarmament and Arms Control.

Mr Allen was previously the Chief Executive of New Zealand Post, Partner at law firm Rudd Watts & Stone and a Visiting Lecturer at Wellington’s Victoria University.

He is the Co-Chair of the Australia New Zealand Friendship Forum and a Member of the Territorial Forces Employers Support Council.

The Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture, which we hope would become an annual event, is a tribute to Governor General Sir Anand Satyanand who has distinguished himself as one of the finest sons of New Zealand. His erudition, honesty, simplicity, integrity and contributions to various aspects of New Zealand have been recognised and respected the world over – these factors are worthy of celebration.

The Lecture has been structured to encourage New Zealanders in general and those in public and corporate entities in particular to appreciate and practice tenets of Accountability, Transparency and Integrity as an integral part of Good Governance. These are in fact enshrined in the life and works of Sir Anand.

Tickets to the Lecture, including cocktails and dinner cost $140 per person. For details, please write to editor@indiannewslink.co.nz
