ACG students excel in Cambridge exams

Many Indian parents choose Academic College Group (ACG) schools for their children as they enjoy the high level of teaching expertise coupled with one-on-one student care.

Those parents were happy with their choice after the Cambridge International Examination rankings came out last week.

Only eight students in the whole of New Zealand received 100% in a subject and four of those came from ACG schools – an amazing effort.

The Group received a total of 28 awards, nine of them for students who were placed Top in the World. The overall pass rate was 90% across the four schools, namely, ACG Strathallan, ACG Sunderland, ACG Parnell and ACG Senior College.

There have also been some students who have achieved amazingly for their young years.

Shorya Raj, formerly of ACG Sunderland and currently attending ACG Senior College, sat his IGCSE exams at age 13 (most would sit these at 15) and got four A*, one A and one B with most of his grades above 90%.

Frano Stanisic (14) of ACG Sunderland scored ‘A’s in Business Studies, Chemistry, English Literature and Mathematics in his CIE exams (which students do not usually take until they are 17). He will apply to study engineering at Auckland University in 2013 at age 15 and will have to ask for special permission to enrol because of his young age.

Clarence Van der Wel, Deputy Chief Executive of ACG, is extremely pleased with the efforts of the students and teachers in the four ACG schools from West Auckland to South Auckland.

“ACG Schools have produced a great set of results. The overall pass rate of 90% is quite outstanding especially since CIE is the only qualification on offer at ACG and these results are a direct result of the skill, commitment and determination to succeed shown by both the students and teachers,” he said.
