The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community New Zealand will be celebrating Eid Al Fitr tomorrow Wednesday July 6, a special day of celebrations after the conclusion of their Holy Month of Ramadan. The community will be conducting the Eid prayers at Baitul Muqeet Mosque located at 20 Dalgety Drive, Manukau at 9 am.

On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of New Zealand, I would like to extend my heartiest Eid greetings to all Muslims and fellow New Zealanders on this special day. May you all celebrate this blessed day in the true spirit as was taught by the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Special Day

Eid Al Fitr is a special day in our lives as we rejoice the completion of exercising self-discipline of having successfully complied with the commandment of God to observe fasting, experiencing a feeling of spiritual exhilaration which glows within the heart and soul.

Eid Al Fitr should remind one of many lessons learned from fasting and which, during the holy month of Ramadan, one should have endeavoured to keep in mind and to have practised.

It is a day on which Muslims should reflect on their condition of spiritual improvement and resolve not to lose what they have gained and to press forward to even higher spiritual development through righteous conduct, prayers and seeking the Grace of God.

Helping the poor

In order to share Eid celebrations with the less-fortunate ones, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community New Zealand in line with their tradition worldwide have been distributing food parcels to the less privileged section of the society during the holy month of Ramadan, each containing enough dry food to meet the needs of a deserving family for few days.

Dynamic Community

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 206 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. The New Zealand branch of this community was established in 1987 and has just over 450 members. It is a registered charitable organisation and endeavours to be an active and integrated community within New Zealand society.

Bashir Khan is the National President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’ New Zealand at based in Auckland.
