Air Asia uniform offends Wellington woman

Wellington, January 20, 2018

A Wellington woman has written to a Malaysian senator, voicing her disgust at Air Asia’s flight attendant uniforms and calling for change.

Dr June Robertson of Tawa, said that she was “very offended” by female staff members’ “extremely short skirts” and had to tell one attendant to close her jacket.

“The woman serving us in the premium business class seats had her blouse opened and I could see the top of her breasts,” she wrote.

“I objected and asked her to close her jacket, as she was bending over us.”

Terrible Experience

Dr Robertson said she was also subjected to seeing another flight attendant’s underwear, after she bent over in an airport shop, an experience she described as “terrible”.

The letter was written to Senator Hanafi Mamat, who in November called for the uniforms to be less revealing, according to Malaysiandigest.com.

In her letter, Dr Robertson said that she was pleased with his stance and liked that “women do not dress like prostitutes” in Malaysia.

“I also wondered why such a respectful country like Malaysia would allow this,” she wrote. “This airline is letting your reputation down.”

Dr Robertson did not have a problem with male staff uniforms, which she described as “very professional.”
