Awards Night offers networking opportunity

With a cross-section of businesses representing various sectors of the New Zealand economy present, the Indian Newslink Indian Business Business Awards (IBA) 2011 would offer a unique opportunity for networking and establishing new contacts.

About 700 members of the business community, including manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, exporters, importers, consultants and professionals will grace us at the Awards Night scheduled to be held at the Sky City Convention Centre on Monday, November 14, 2011.

The event will begin with Cocktails hosted by Indian Newslink and Panworld Travel Mangere at 5 pm, along with a small exhibition of sponsors of IBA 2011.

Prime Minister John Key, Trade Minister Tim Groser, Opposition Leader Phil Goff, Indian High Commissioner Admiral Sureesh Mehta, BNZ Board Chairman John Waller and BNZ Partners Regional Managing Partner Alan Young will be among the Guests of Honour at the event.

Major commercial banks, investment companies, large, medium and small businesses, franchisees of major brands and others have booked corporate tables, enhancing the value of the Awards Night.

IBA 2011 would arguably be the largest event of the Indian business community to be held at Sky City Convention Centre.

Indian Menu

A number of organisations, commissioned by Indian Newslink are working to ensure that guests at the Awards Ceremony receive the best of their products, services, attention and customer care.

Sky City Executive Chef Paul Doyle and his team have created a Special Indian Menu not only to represent the best of Indian cuisine that finds favour with people of all ethnicities, tastes and style, but also to reflect the main purpose of the event, namely to celebrate the success of everything that is Indian.

Mt Wellington based Display Ways Limited, with proven expertise in creating an extensive range of display equipment and products, will provide exhibition booths to our Sponsoring companies.

The standard booths, with electrical fittings and basic furniture would enable our sponsors to showcase their products and services.

Audio Visual experts Spy Glass will provide an increasing array of services to match the growing sophistication and needs of the event.

The Company has a variety of equipment that range from state-of-the-art sound and light systems, live projection of the programme on large television screens for easy viewing by guests and a host of other services.

Award Categories

A distinguished and independent panel of judges is currently evaluating the entries received in 12 categories. The finalists and winners in each category will be announced at the Awards Night and presented with special trophies.

The judges will pick the winner of one or more of the above categories to qualify for the ‘Supreme Business of the Year Award.’

Megasons Hardware Limited, East Tamaki Health Care and Global Financial Services were the winners of the Supreme Business Award respectively in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

While the Best Exporter to India is open to all New Zealand registered businesses exporting a product or service to India, the other categories are for New Zealand based businesses owned, managed, operated or franchised by people of Indian origin.

Chad Wilkie, Convenor of the Judging panel said the Awards Scheme had given him and his fellow judges an insight into the Indian business community in New Zealand.

“A highly experienced member of our judging panel expresses the view that to have a successful Business Awards programme, there must be several good finalists in each category, and one excellent winner.

“On that test, the IBA have succeeded each year,” he said.

Veteran Journalist and broadcaster John Beatson of Triangle Television will be the Master Ceremonies.

Entertainers

The entertainment segment would include Classical and Semi-Classical dances by Ratna Venkat, Bollywood dances by V4U Entertainments Limited and a live band comprising Joseph Alexander (Alex), Jocel Alexander, Hemant Thaker and James Fromont.
