With just about three weeks left for the Gala Black Tie Dinner and Presentation Ceremony, the BNZ-Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards (INLIBA) 2014 has entered an exciting phase with sale of tickets reaching a high pitch.
More 950 top executives of multinational and national companies, businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals and others are expected to attend the event, which will be held at the Sky City Convention Centre on Monday, November 24, 2014.
The event will commence with cocktails, canapés and networking at 5 pm at the Promenade and the Marlborough Rooms, along with an exhibition of Sponsors and their products and services. Some of our Sponsors may announce special incentives to existing and potential customers.
Dinner, entertainment, speeches and Awards presentation will be held at the New Zealand Rooms from 630 pm.
The Awards Scheme, started in 2008, has been growing from strength to strength recognising the contribution of businesses owned, managed, operated and franchised by people of Indian origin in New Zealand, and their impact on the national economy.
This Awards Scheme has 12 individual categories, the winners in each of which will be evaluated for the Supreme Business of the Year Award.
An independent panel of judges, which does not involve the sponsors and the management and staff of Indian Newslink, is currently evaluating the entries. The finalists and winners will be announced at the Awards Night.
Census 2013 identified people of Indian origin as the fastest growing population in New Zealand. With this substantial increase in numbers, it is natural that they will have a more profound impact on all walks of life.
New Zealand is an increasingly popular destination for foreign investors and businesses and the Indian Diaspora has demonstrated its business acumen and ability to successfully meet challenges and problems. Indian entrepreneurs, including those embarking on new ventures, are aware not only of the challenges but also the opportunities that New Zealand offers with its own traits of honesty and transparency.
Hard work defines any successful business, and Indian businesses are known for their diligence and perseverance. Indian businesses realise the importance of customer service and the significance of delivering on promises.
A majority of Kiwi businesses are small, with about 90% of them family-owned and operated. The Indian business sector also reflects this characteristic. The old way of doing business on day-to-day basis has given way to annual plans, budgets and strategies, encouraged by market developments, increasing competition and INLIBA. Hundreds of companies have benefited from such a professional approach, lifting in the process their standard of performance and subscribing to growth and diversification.
Small and Medium Companies continue to remain as family-owned and managed, while large enterprises are private shareholding or listed companies.
The younger generation is beginning to emerge with a strong focus on long-term goals, multinational and multicultural staff and development of products and services.
Indian businesses toady are significant partners in the progress and development of the New Zealand economy and are being increasingly represented in professional and trade organisations.
Our Awards Scheme is acknowledged as one of the most important business events in the country and as a programme that gets bigger and better year after year. It is an occasion to celebrate the success of Indian entrepreneurs and professionals, inspiring others to enter the Awards Programme in the following year.
According to Chad Wilkie, Convenor of the Panel of Judges, INLIBA has over the past seven years encouraged businesses to have in place sound practices, credible planning process, sound marketing strategies and most important of all, a good and responsive risk management system.
“The Awards Night provides an opportunity for finalists and winners to have their moment of glory, while entrants and potential entrants are encouraged to participate in the Awards Scheme with renewed vigour,” he said.
