Bollywood Unplugged to connect SPCA

Abhinav Arora

Ashish JoshiA group of youngsters is currently busy putting together an evening of entertainment in aid of the Society for THE Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

The group, called, ‘Svara Productions,’ will present ‘Bollywood Unplugged’ at India Gate Party Hall in the South Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

The programme, including a three-course buffet dinner, will commence at 630 pm.

Abhinav Arora, leader and founder member of the group said that Svara Productions is the product of ‘like-minded people getting together for like-mined causes that include local charities.’

Local artistes

“We share the vision and passion for the entertainment industry. As a not-for-profit organisation, we plan to support local charities by producing various forms of entertainment. Our projects will provide a platform for local artistes to give vent to their talent,” he said.

Ritika Badakere

Ritika Badakere, Ashish Joshi, Gopika Gnanakumar and Mridula Malhotra are among the singers at the forthcoming programme.

Abhinav, who won the ‘Best Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award at the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards 2011, is deeply involved in the hospitality and entertainment industries and evinces keen interest in music.

“Music is universal, transcending language and cultural barriers. We hope that ‘Bollywood Unplugged’ will appeal to a cross-section of the society. This is our maiden venture with ‘Kiwi ingenuity,’ featuring old and new songs from Hindi films,” he said.

‘Svara Productions’ chose SPCA Auckland as the beneficiary since its mission is to encourage humane treatment to all animals and prevent cruelty being inflicted on them.

“SPCA Auckland cares for more than 15,000 injured, abandoned and abused animals across the City every year. It depends heavily on the generosity of the people to carry out its tasks. We hope that our programme will receive the patronage of compassionate New Zealanders,” he said.
