Business Innovation leads to commercial success

Businesses that believe that innovation leads to improved performance are those that will create a brand image and acquire the niche market, says Stamford Plaza General Manager Peter Gee.

He said every organisation has the opportunity to innovate, be it a product or service and be successful in an extremely competitive environment.

“Innovation also motivates employees to improve their own on-the-job performance and enhance their career prospects. Every company be it large, medium or small should constantly explore avenues to promote customer satisfaction and increase their market share. That is the dynamism needed in today’s market,” he said.

Business Awards Sponsor

Stamford Plaza is the Sponsor of the Best Innovation Business Category of the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards (IBA) 2010.

“We believe that Innovation has been a major force in the progress and development of Stamford Plaza. We have not only been able to retain our customers but also attract new clients with our innovative approach. We encourage our staff, ranging from frontline managers to back office support personnel to suggest new ways to retain customer loyalty. Their involvement is vital to the service industry,” Mr Gee said.

He said Stamford Plaza considered Indian Newslink as a significant partner in its efforts to reach out to the Indian business community.

“But we have been pleasantly surprised to see how the Awards Project has been evincing the interest of businesses across the commercial spectrum,” he said.

Mr Gee said the Hotel was gearing itself to staging yet another spectacular Awards Presentation Night due to be held on November 15 in the lobby area.

“IBA 2010 Presentation Dinner is now only a few months away and the year is passing swiftly. There is now doubt in my mind that our involvement in this most prestigious of events since inception has acted an invaluable catalyst in helping to further strengthen our bonds with the Indian Community, both within Auckland and further afield. We look forward to what we are sure will be an outstanding event in November,” he said.

Mr Gee said he and team were pleased to join Indian Newslink in celebrating business excellence.

In-house Innovation

“We are very proud to be chosen again as the venue for this most exciting and prestigious event that showcases some of New Zealand’s best business practice.

“Just as the Indian Business community constantly strives for improvement and innovation, so does Stamford plaza Auckland.

“We have, during the last 12 months, upgraded all of our guest rooms with the addition of 32” plasma screen televisions and launched our internal “Grow a Green Future” campaign in support of Earthwatch.

“We are in the process of installing Cat 6 cabling throughout the hotel to further improve internet connectivity,” he said.

The Hotel’s Associate Sales & Marketing Director Sunny Kaushal said Stamford Plaza had become the home of IBA 2010.

“As well as the Awards Night due to be held in November, Indian Newslink has conducted two free workshops of potential entrants to the various categories of the Awards Scheme, with the third workshop scheduled to be held on July 14.

“We understand that these workshops have been a useful tool in enabling participants to understand the rules of entry, how to fill forms and the type of information provided.

“It is pleasing to see a range of businesses attending the workshops,” he said.

Mr Kaushal said that as done last year, the entire lobby area of the Hotel will be converted into a glittering function on November 15, reflecting the importance being gained by IBA.

“We value the close links that we have forged over the years with the community and hence joined hands with Indian Newslink to be a sponsor.

“We believe that Indian Newslink plays an enormously important role in communicating the contribution and achievements both within the Indian community and to the broader national audience,” he said.
