Charity concert with Tappoo coming

Sumeet Satyam Tappoo, a young musician known for his powerful voice, will present Bollywood songs in Auckland in aid of a charity.

Soni Samaj New Zealand Inc is organising the programme on October 6 at the Dorothy Winstone Centre (Auckland Girls Grammar School) to mobilise financial resources for the Starship Foundation, which raised funds for Starship Children’s Hospital. Jasmine Kapadia, another notable singer and an orchestra of instrumentalists, will accompany Sumeet.

Born in Fiji, Sumeet had a passion for music during his formative years and became a stage performer at the tender age of eight. He is a graduate in Business (Management & Marketing) and a postgraduate in Business Administration from the University of Sydney in Australia.

He eulogised famous Ghazal singer Anup Jalota as his Guru, and the association helped him to become a professional singer.

Runaway hits

Now based in Mumbai, the seat of Bollywood, he is a globetrotter, performing at concerts, music festivals and other special occasions. He released his first album at the tender age of eleven.

In 2010, his debut ‘Meri Deewangi,’ was in India’s Top charts for nearly 40 weeks, peaking at Number Two in the Times of India Music Charts.

The album featured eight romantic ‘ballads’ composed by music director Deepak Pandit. UK based artist Priest J (aka Suj Joshi), assisted him to create a Dance track for the title track of the album.

Sumeet has performed over 450 concerts in India, US, UK, Canada, South Africa, Mauritius, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
