Charity Dinner in Hamilton

A Charity Dinner in aid of the Christchurch Earthquake victims will be held in Hamilton on Sunday, March 20.

Indianz Global Association and GOPIO Waikato are organising the event at Zyka Restaurant with the proceeds going to the New Zealand Red Cross Society, which is coordinating the relief efforts with the Earthquake Commission, the New Zealand Police and other Central and Local Government agencies.

President Suman Kapoor said this would be a multicultural community event.

“Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters who have lost their dear ones and property as a result of the devastating Earthquake on February 22 and the aftershocks suffered by them since then. We are doing the best we can at these difficult times,” she said.

The dinner will comprise North and South Indian cuisine and will be held at the Restaurant located at 161 Victoria Street. The cost per person is $25.

Holi Milan

Ms Kapoor said ‘Holi Milan,’ commemorating the Festival will be held at 5 pm at the Celebrating Age Centre on the same day.

“The Centre will be open from 4 pm and the programme will include entertainment and the spirit of Race Relations Day. A raffle will also be held to raise funds for the Red Cross,” she said.
