Doctors to outline health issues to Tamils

Members of the Muthamil Sangam Inc and their guests will have a rare opportunity of understanding a number of issues related to their health and wellbeing at a special event being held in Auckland later this month.

Three well known medical practitioners will participate in the ‘Doctors’ Day’ being organised by the Association at the Fickling Convention Centre in Three Kings on September 26.

Muthamil Sangam Secretary Sheba Soundararajan said that the three-and-half-hours programme (from 330 pm) will focus on family health including women and children.

“We are fortunate to have our panel of doctors who will outline the importance of a healthy family, the need for regular check-up and the threats posed by modern living style. This is an event that should not be missed,” she said.

Distinguished doctors

The panel of doctors include Dr Devraja Muthuvel, Dr Anju Yogakumar and Dr Meenal Chandra Kanth who will speak on health issues relating respectively to men, women and children.

East Tamaki Health Care is a common factor among the three General Practitioners.

Dr Devraja Muthuvel studied at the Jaffna Medical College in Sri Lanka and worked at the South Waikato Hospital.

A graduate of the Auckland Medical School, Dr Young Kumar has special interest in skin problems, women’s health and paediatrics.

Dr Meenal Chandra Kanth, who specialises on children’s health is a graduate from Madurai Medical College in Tamil Nadu. She had earlier worked at the Waikato Distinct Health Board, Middlemore Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital.

Mrs Soundararajan has appealed to the members of the Sangam to email her questions for the consideration of the panel of doctors.

“Members should renew their membership prior to the meeting (Family $30, Individual $20). New members are also welcome,” she said.
