‘Double Header Cricket’ on Friday at Eden Park

The Auckland Meet puts Blackcaps and White Ferns against India

Staff Reporter, Auckland, February 5, 2019

Cricket enthusiasts who have purchased tickets for the Cricket matches at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, February 8, 2019 can expect fun-filled activities.

The Twenty20 double header is completely sold out.

Stat TV, which has more than 500 million viewers around the world, has the rights to telecast the matches live.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has ranked the Indian Men’s team as the Second Best T20 Team and Black Caps the Sixth Best in the world.

White Ferns, the New Zealand Women’s team, will face the Indian Women’s team at 3 pm, followed by the Blackcaps countering the Indian Men at 7 pm.

ATEED’s fun events

Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development (ATEED) is hosting several fun activities at the top of the swamp walk off Sandringham Road and outside Gates A, D and H.

These will include Indian musical and dance performance groups, DJ sets, social media roaming photographers, performers, Beige Brigade Entertainers, Face-Painting and Photo-Boards.

ATEED Major Events Head Stuart Turner said that it was no secret that the biggest fans of Cricket are from India.

“It is therefore a great opportunity for us to amplify the buzz surrounding this tour, especially with so many people of Indian origin living in Auckland,” he said.

Festive atmosphere

He said that he has taken advantage of ATEED’s connections with the Annual Diwali Festival  and inspired by the Classic Kiwi Cricket Culture to create a pre-game mini-festival to enhance the Auckland experience for visiting and local fans.

“It is also a great opportunity to showcase Auckland to millions of people around the world,” Mr Turner said.
