English promises to legalise Kirpan for Sikhs

Prime Minister and National Party Leader Bill English speaking at a Fundraising Dinner organised by the members , supporters and volunteers of the Party at the Manukau East Constituency where Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi has been MP since November 2008.
More than 450 people are attending this fun-filled event with Botany MP Jami-Lee Ross in a turban as the Master of Ceremonies. Among them are National Party President Peter Goodfellow, several ministers and MPs.
Mr English, is, expectedly having a swipe at Andrew Little and his Labour Party, saying that ‘they are against progress, immigration and international students.’ He said that crime is being effectively addressed by the Police.
He also said that a legislative change allowing Sikhs to carry the Kirpan for religious reasons See separate e story coming up.
Me English praised the efforts of Mr Bakshi and credited him with a number of achievements in the law and order, culture and other areas. With Irvinder Kaur, Ranjna Patel, Pravin Kumar
