Festival lights India hopes

Let more Indians enter the field of Cricket and may there be higher levels of cooperation and understanding between New Zealand India.

That was the Diwali Message of Prime Minister John Key as he addressed a gathering of Parliamentarians, Government officials and community leaders at a function held in Parliament Buildings on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

Ravi Thapar and Zehra Akbari, respectively High Commissioners of India and Pakistan, Race Relations Commissioner Susan Devoy were among notable guests at the event.

Mr Key hoped to find synergies with the new Government led by Narendra Modi in India.

“He and his Bharatiya Janata Party are known for their business-friendly approach and we are keen to expand our ties in every possible area of activity. I look forward to meeting him and visiting India again next year,” Mr Key said.
