Waikato residents can expect a day of fun, food and India’s heritage as Diwali Mela 2014 gets underway at the Hamilton City Council Lounge on Saturday, October 13.
The event, will be held from 530 pm to 8 pm under the theme ‘East & West- Culture’s Best,’ bringing together a cross-section of the communities.
Organiser Suman Kapoor said that among the highlights of the programme this year is the performance of visiting troupe from India under the auspices of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) of the Indian Government.
“Local talents would be represented in Qawali, Punjabi dances, and performances by the children of Abardeen School and many others,” she said.
