Fiji gains global credibility

The success of the general election held in Fiji on September 17, 2014 has encouraged the world to perceive the South Pacific country with renewed respect and friendship.

Fijians have reposed their faith in Josaia Voreqe (Frank) Bainimarama as their Prime Minister and his Fiji First, which won 32 seats (59.2% of votes) in the 50-seat Parliament as their favoured Party.

With the world leaders applauding the people of Fiji for their self-determination and with the international team of observers expressing their satisfaction over the fairness of the election, Fiji quickly regained membership to the Commonwealth.

During an interview with Indian Newslink in Auckland on August 8, Mr Bainimarama promised his people and the world that he would take Fiji forward and recreate the yesteryear slogan, “Fiji, the way the World should be.’
