Fiji High School students seek help

Eighteen students from the Ba Methodist High School (Fiji) are scheduled to arrive in Auckland this week, as a part of their study in Geography.

They need help to fund their accommodation and other costs.

The group would also comprise four teachers and two parents, who will arrive on August 20 and leave on September 4.

School Principal Peni Tora said the students, from VI and VII forms would visit various places in North Island.

He appealed to former students of the School, former Ba residents and others interested in promoting the cause of education to offer their assistance in cash.

“Ba is the only district in Fiji where true multicultural relationships exist. Any assistance rendered will enable the students to have a successful visit,” he said.

Local Organising Committee member Asenaca Delaibatiki, alumni of the School (currently employed as an independent midwife), said cash donations would be used to pay for the group’s accommodation, transport and other costs.

The Matata Marae in Mangere Township will receive the group on August 20 with a traditional Powhiri, she said.

For donations and further information, call 0800-271059 or 027271227.
