Food Security staff get a taste of India

More than 200 staff of the Auckland based ‘AsureQuality,’ marked Diwali on October 24 at its Auckland laboratory in Lynfield.

Scientific Analyst Bala Venu Beeram hosted the event at which the Company’s Chief Executive John McKay, Group Director (Business Development) Alastair de Raadt and Business Manager (Auckland Laboratory) Melt Bekker were among the special guests.

Mr McKay, who lit the traditional lamp, said that he was pleased to be a part of the festive environment, which included staff dressed colourfully and an array of delicious Indian food. Technician John Lu spoke about the importance of Diwali and the event was filled with colour, music, and a classical dance performed by Avanthi Nanegari.

AsureQuality is a state-owned enterprise that provides food safety and biosecurity services to the food and primary production sectors worldwide. Its 1700 experts are based at over 60 locations throughout Australasia and Singapore, working with their customers to assure the safety and quality of the food being produced for millions of people.

The Company’s multi-ethnic staff account for 24 nationalities, encouraging the management and staff to mark events such as the Chinese New Year, Diwali and Christmas.
