Franchise restaurant serves a landmark

One of the most prolific restaurant chains of India is fast becoming a landmark for diners in the South Auckland suburb of Manukau.

Chawla’s Indian Restaurant, which is celebrating its 55th Anniversary this year, opened its doors at 613 Great South Road on February 15 with the official inauguration by IPS Chawla, son of founder the late S Attar Singh Chawla.

The response from an increasing number of customers has been gratifying to owners Jaspreet Kandhari and Amanpreet Singh and to the parent company in India.

Global Chain

“We are proud to be a part of the Chawla’s chain which has 83 restaurants in India, Britain, USA and the Middle East. We are keen that every diner must experience the real cuisine of India. Chawla’s brings the authentic taste of Indian curry and a variety of other items never experienced before in New Zealand,” Mr Kandhari said.

According to him the Chawla’s has created a wide range of flavours that are exotic and tantalising for people of all ages and cultural dimensions.

“Chawla chicken is one of the biggest food chains in India specialising in Indian cuisine and has been in business for past several years. It has served millions of food lovers with high standards of quality,” he said.

Mr Kandhari said that Chawla’s Manukau aims to position itself as an authentic Indian restaurant and be innovative and progressive.

Loyalty Card

“We have created a new Loyalty Card, which offers a free meal and drink to every customer after his or her sixth lunch at the restaurant. This Card for individuals only and valid for lunch. We have a fully licensed bar and with catering up to 100 persons, Chawla’s Manukau has become an ideal venue for parties, social gatherings and other important community events,” he said.

Mr Kandhari said that the special lunch deal at $12 per person has become popular.

“The deal includes a drink, curry, naan and rice. While the interior provides an ambiance that is friendly and aesthetic, the exterior welcomes diners with ample car park. Since most of our neighbours are businesses, up to 150 cars can be parked in the evening. This is a significant advantage for our customers,” he said.

Chawla’s Manukau is open for lunch from 11 am to 230 pm and from 5 pm to 10 pm all days of the week, with extended hours (until late) on weekends.
