GOPIO Raffle Draw date set

The New Zealand Chapter of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) will conduct its raffle draw in aid of St John’s Ambulance on June 12.

Community Constable Glen Green of Mt Roskill Police Station will draw the names of winners at a brief function at Sangeet Indian Restaurant (701 Great South Road) in Manukau at 5 pm.

GOPIO has been selling raffle tickets priced at $5 since the past few weeks, with a target to raise at least $12,000, which would help finance a part of the estimated cost of $160,000 of a well-equipped Ambulance (Indian Newslink, May 1, 2011).

GOPIO New Zealand President Rakesh Gupta said this was a part of the Community Project of the Organisation.

He said a number of commercial establishments had donated attractive prizes.

“They include a 50” Panasonic HD Plasma Television (donated by Global Financial Services), I-Pad (Patton Refrigeration), a Mystery Weekend for Two (Rohini Jagmohan) a Weekend for two persons with breakfast at Stamford Plaza Auckland and a dinner for four (of value $200) at Sangeet Indian Restaurant. The prizes may be subject to conditions,” he said.
