Head of Sikhs in Auckland

Singh Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, Religious Head of Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib, the Supreme Religious Authority of Sikhs based in Amritsar, Punjab (India) was in New Zealand to attend the seventh anniversary of Sri Kalgidhar Sahib, the Gurudwara in Takanini, Auckland on March 11, 2012.

He recognised and acknowledged the work of Bhai Gurmej Singh Ji Ragi of Sri Darbar Sahib of Amritsar for his efforts in compiling Sri Guru Granth Sahib scriptures into Braille. His work now enables the blind to read, appreciate and enjoy the knowledge and wisdom of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. His younger son Harpreet Singh accompanied him to New Zealand.

“We are working on another project in New Zealand. We will announce details of the project in Indian Newslink shortly,” Mr Harpreet Singh said.
