Self-Confidence breeds determination

Most international students enrolled in our Universities do well in their scholastic career and are keen to pursue their vocation, establish a professional career and eventually settle down here.

“New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries in the world; life is great and it is an attractive destination for migration,” they say.

We agree.

Among those who followed their aspirations to this country was our Model of the Fortnight Araminta Satanjali Chand.

A merit scholarship brought her to New Zealand from her native Fiji to pursue her graduation (B Com) in Accounting at the University of Canterbury. Although she had to return to Suva to fulfil her bond, her qualifications, ambition and perseverance brought her back to work as a financial accountant at the University of Auckland.

Araminta hopes to complete her chartered accountant qualification and work for a multinational corporation in not too distant a future.

With a figure like this, why waste time chasing figures on paper?

She says exploring the inner beauty is more important than exposing the external one.

“You do not have to be an aspiring model to discover yourself. You could be a homemaker, a student or someone like me with an office job. Take pride in your achievements and have confidence in self. That’s the beauty in you!” she said.

Araminta believes in self-esteem, self-discipline and personal satisfaction rather than flattery and superficial relationships.

“Think like a Queen. A Queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to success and eventual greatness,” she said.
