Baker’s dozen makes good dancing pair
Thirteen may be a number that is culled from elevator buttons, floor plans and every other conceivable project but it has spelt good fortune for at least some people.
It would not be the spin of the wheel but step of the heel, as Dance Pe Chance, an ambitious, modest budget project gets on stage early next year.
After at least two auditions, 13 pairs have been listed to go as finalists at the show, which would be pronounced, ‘Be My Valentine.’
The dance contest would see some razzle-dazzle, with classical and modern dance performers alongside those donning their dancing shoes.
Kshitij Enterprises Ltd Director Jayesh Bateriwala, who is producing and directing the show, believes that it would be one of a kind in New Zealand.
“Five months of conceptualising, marketing and auditioning have brought this project to a take-off stage. As well as 13 pairs vying for the title, the programme will comprise talented dancers performing romantic Bollywood numbers,” he said.
Mr Bateriwala said Dance Pe Chance will truly be a national event, with participants from Christchurch, Dunedin and other centres evincing interest.
“The auditions brought to the fore the talent inherent among the resident population. We saw the capability of our people in a range of items, from Indian classical to Hip Hop, Salsa and Tango,” Mr Bateriwala said.
