Accountants' body endorses- Prof Lawrence Rose.jpgThe Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFAI) has accepted the Massey University Business School as a partner in its CFA programme.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Lawrence Rose claimed that the endorsement meant the University’s curriculum conformed to more than 70% of the institute’s requirement.

“It also means that our curriculum met with high educational, ethical and professional   standards,” he said.

The CFA programme is a self-study, graduate-level course for investment professionals, necessitating students to pass three levels of examinations, combined with at least four years of full-time qualifying work experience.

“Students have a distinct advantage since our curriculum is closely aligned with that of CFAI. They are well-prepared to pass the first exam which will benefit their future in the profession,” he said.

Professor Rose paid tributes to his Economics and Finance Department staff, saying that their hard work ensured that the programme was relevant to the industry.

Florida-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a worldwide club of universities had recently accredited Massey’s College of Business.

The Association, established in the US in 1916, aims to enhance business education.

It accounts for 570 accredited members in 33 countries representing about 10,000 universities.
The CFAI is a global association of investment professionals with nearly 100,000 members worldwide and 103 programme partners in 31 countries, two of which are in New Zealand and five in Australia.
