Seminar on family violence
Issues related to family violence and the need to promote safety at home will be the focus of a seminar on domestic violence due to be held in Auckland on April 10.
Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust is hosting the seminar at its premises in Onehunga along with the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO).
Auckland City District Police Asian Liaison Officer Jessica Phuang is coordinating the project, initiated by the Asian Advisory Board of the District.
Senior Sergeant Vaughan Graham, Ms Phuang and other police officials will participate in the 90-minute programme, which will include a presentation and discussion.
Indian Newslink is facilitating the seminar as a part of its commitment to promote community and social welfare.
The programme aims to encourage women to reach across to victims of family violence to report incidents and foster their safety.
Those interested in participating in the event should contact Nilima Venkat at Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust.
