Annual meet to extol- Lord Rama.jpgThe importance of Ramayan and the relevance of the teachings of the great epic to the modern world will come to the fore at an annual meeting on May 2.

Ramayan Sameelan will be held at the Auckland Ramayan Sanstha Trust Community Hall, located at 53, Skipton Street in the Mangere Suburb of Manuaku City.

The Trust, the apex organisation for Ramaseva Mandalis in the greater Auckland region conducts the Sammelan (Meeting) to bring together all devotees of Lord Rama and smaller organisations to pray for the welfare of humankind.

Ramayan Sammelan Committee Publicity Officer Mavis Singh said the main objective of organising the annual event was to stimulate the human intellect and spirit among the followers of Lord Vishnu in general and Lord Rama in particular.

“These meetings also encourage and promote the use of Hindi as the medium of communication and learning. While several small Mandalis meet regularly to spread the teachings of Ramayan, the annual Sammelan fosters the spirit of oneness,” she said.

Pundits Satya Deo Sharma and Sushil Sharma will conduct the six-hour long prayer, commencing with Hawan Pooja at 730 am.
