Satyanand honours-Doulat Bindra.jpgGovernor General Sir Anand Satyanand honoured Hamilton resident Daulat Bindra with the Queen’s Service Medal at the Government House in Auckland on April 13.

An active member of the Sikh community in Auckland, Hamilton and Pukekohe, Mr Bindra was recognised for his services to the Indian community.

A Founder-member of the New Zealand Sikh Society, he helped establish a number of similar organisations in the country. He mobilised financial resources for the construction of the Gurdwara in Hamilton.

Mr Bindra is a life member of the 85-year-old New Zealand Indian Central Association and helped in the establishment of its Country Branch.
