To the core of values

Today’s children must be inculcated with traditional and time-tested values which form the basis of Hinduism, says Lovleen Priya Lochan, our Model of the Fortnight.

It is towards that end that the 19-year-old is currently pursuing a graduate degree course in Early Childhood Education at the AUT University in Auckland.

But modelling remains her passion and there was a time when she was keen on becoming a flight attendant, encouraging her to qualify for Level Four Certificate in International Travel, Tourism and IT.

There is a clear conflict of interest in this teenager with an eye on the glamour world.

Her father (from Raki Raki in Fiji) encouraged her to join a talent-grooming agency but her interest in Early Childhood Education appears to be strong.

“Today’s children must be exposed to real life circumstances and experiences and places of interest. They must be taught good things in life at an impressionable age, because what they learn today would shape their character and personality tomorrow. Hinduism imparts core human values,” she said.

Raised in a family (she has two younger sisters) that believes in the goodness of human beings, this North Shore City girl has what it takes to be successful in life.

“You cannot achieve anything unless you set your heart and mind to your aims and objectives in life,” she said.
