Indian Newslink: Healthcare provider scoops Business Awards Healthcare provider scoops Business Awards ================================================================================ Venkat Raman on 30/11/2009 18:55:00 Auckland based East Tamaki Healthcare walked away with the Supreme Business Award of the Year, along with top prizes in two individual categories at the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards (IBA) 2009 Awards Presentation Night on November 16. The company, which operates twelve healthcare centres throughout the Auckland region, also won the Best Innovation Business and Best Professional Services Business at the ceremony held at Stamford Plaza Hotel. The Company was also a finalist in the Best Large Business category. Global Financial Services Company Limited, based in Manukau, qualified for the Best Marketing Excellence Award and the Best Small Business Award, apart from being a finalist in the Best Professional Services Business category. Prime Minister John Key, who was a Guest of Honour, said that it was heartening to note the progress achieved by companies owned, operated and managed by people of Indian origin in New Zealand. “IBA, established and organised by Indian Newslink is an excellent platform to recognise and reward business success in the Indian community. “My Government is committed to the growth of the small business sector and a number of initiatives to promote private entrepreneurs,” he said. Opposition Leader Phil Goff said the Business Awards scheme augured well with the prospects of a Free Trade Agreement between New Zealand and India. “Such an agreement will boost business ties between the two countries,” he said. Waitakere City Mayor Bob Harvey said he was proud to be associated with Indian Newslink in promoting Indian businesses. “These awards are a great source of encouragement,” he said. Waitakere City Council and its economic agency Waitakere Enterprise were the major sponsors of IBA 2008 and 2009. Council Chief Executive Vijaya Vaidyanath said that IBA should continue to grow and encouraged large corporates to support the project. Manukau City Mayor Len Brown said he was pleased to see a number of Kiwi-Indian businesses recognised for their growth and performance. “After seeing so many businesspeople on stage talking about their work, I am convinced of the enormous potential that exists to power up businesses in Auckland,” he said. Among the winners in other categories were Magsons Mitre 10 (Best Retailer Business), Nando’s New Zealand (Best Restaurant Business), Chiropractic & Sport Takanini Limited (Best Sustainable Business), ZIndia Limited (Best Exporter to India Business) Toys R Fun (Best Medium Business) GMP Pharmaceutical Business (Best Large Business). More than 425 people attended the Awards Presentation Dinner, the largest ever in an event of the type.
