On February 27, at 3 pm, 300 Muslims gathered at the Masjid to celebrate the birth time of the Prophet and witnessed for the first time a preserved hairpiece of the Prophet. The Jashne Eid Milad Al Nabi programme held on February 28 was a grand occasion where more than 2000 people attended. The programme began at 9 am with the recitation of the Milad Shareef. An hour later, Molvi Safik and party performed the welcome ceremony with duff. Then a passage from the Holy Quran was recited in Arabic (with English translation), marking the formal beginning of Milad Al Nabi. SAMA Madarsa students recited poems. Four distinguished speakers were present to explain the importance of the event. Mufti Abdul Qadir Siddique, Head Imam of Jamia Masjid Al Mustafa, who had commenced a detailed account of the life of the Prophet in Urdu 12 days earlier, presented the final account. This was followed by a mellifluous presentation of the life of the Prophet (in Urdu) by Maulana Jalil from Fiji and another ‘Naat E Rasool.’ Molvi Shafeez, Assistant Imam of Jamia Masjid Al Mustafa presented in English the attributes of the Prophet. Hafiz Tahseen Raza Qadiri from India spoke about the virtues of the Prophet and the significance of Milad Al Nabi. SAMA President Haji Mohammed Hasim Khan expressed his gratitude to the visiting speakers, the Maulanas, members of the Association and other guests, stating that the Milad Al Nabi celebrations at Masjid Al Mustafa were gaining significance.
