India offers selective Free Trade to New Zealand

Arvind Mehta, Additional Secretary at Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Lead Negotiator, Government of India of a possible Free Trade Agreement with New Zealand is currently speaking at a special meeting of the India New Zealand Business Council in Auckland.

He said that The Indian government may consider some areas that are not a part of agriculture and farming.

He admits there are several challenges and imponderables.

There are undoubtedly several possibilities.

While India is happy to improve bilateral relations, India has to protect its interests, he said.

“We can perhaps have a mechanism in the services sector.
