India showcases sports goods

A wide range of sports goods including gears and equipment will be on display at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Auckland City from November 15.

The two-day expo will include buyer-seller meetings.

New Delhi based Sports Goods Exports Promotion Council (SGEPC), sponsored by the Commerce and Industry Ministry of the Indian Government is leading a delegation of officials and exporters to New Zealand.

Council Secretary Tarun Dewan said India had immense potential to promote its sports items, equipment and toys and that their quality were on a par with the best in the world.

“We are keen to establish our presence in the New Zealand market and offer our strengths and strategies for the benefit of dealers and consumers in your country. The market for the goods with which we are involved is ripe for expansion in overseas markets,” he said.

The total value of sports goods and toys exported from India to New Zealand was $US 2.64 million during the 2009-2010 financial year.
