Indian Newslink List of Honours is growing

Ravi Nyayapati

In just over a fortnight, we will celebrate the Fifth Annual Indian Newslink Sports & Community Awards 2018 (on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 6 pm).

At press time, the nomination process was in full swing.

Readers will be delighted to know that the Guest of honour will be current Blackcaps Opening Batsman Jeet Raval.

His presence will be inspiring for budding Sportspersons and Cricketers in particular.

Perseverance and Determination

Raval is a classic example of perseverance and determination.

His Test selection came at the back of several seasons of consistent performance, complemented by his ‘never-give-up’ attitude to make it to the national squad.

Raval instantly demonstrated why he was the rightful choice as the perfect Test Opener.

Focus on the Young

Our Awards Night is a magnificent opportunity to recognise and reward achievers from the Diaspora involved in Sports and in community service.

A key focus of the event is to recognise young talent, who often excel at what they do but fall short of gaining recognition.

Our Awards Night is set to change this norm and provide a platform to motivate the

young achievers and bring joy to their families, who are a huge part of their success.

Our readers may recall that it was the growing importance of people of Indian origin in various sports that encouraged Indian Newslink to launch the Indian Sports Awards in 2012. These Awards were the first of its type in the Indian community in New Zealand.

After a two-year break, the Awards are back in a revised format, incorporating recognition of stalwarts in the community.
