Institute success inspires employers

For those whose top priority is launching a career, private training provider New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) is the ideal place to study.

NZMA’s School of Business and Hospitality Management delivers top-quality Certificates and Diplomas in Business, Hospitality and Contact Centre. A fully-Kiwi owned organisation, it has a top-notch reputation amongst New Zealand employers, who know that NZMA graduates will have the skills required to be successful.

For many international students, NZMA is a stepping-stone to a bright future in a new country. Many aim to gain qualifications and find employment here and eventually gain permanent residency.

Sky is no limit

It has proved to be the perfect recipe for Dharanee Dharan Gandhiswami (DD), who moved to Auckland from Chennai to study at NZMA. He already had nine years of industry experience and a degree in Hotel Management. But he was keen to work and live in another country and have global exposure.

During his time at NZMA, DD completed his National Diploma in Hospitality Management and competed in the prestigious ‘New Zealand Culinary Fare,’ in which he was the winner, earning the title of ‘The New Zealand Junior Food and Beverage Service Person of the Year.’

After moving up the ranks at SkyCity, he now has an exciting career working as a Food and Beverage Executive for Fullers, Auckland’s leading ferry operator, managing the F&B operations of the whole fleet.

He said NZMA helped him achieve his career goals and gain permanent residency.

“If it was not for NZMA I wouldn’t be here. They not only gave me the skills but also a sound knowledge of business and how hospitality operates in New Zealand,” DD said.

Banking Career

Hemanth Kumar Bollam is another successful NZMA graduate with a thriving career, pursuing his application for permanent residency in New Zealand. Arriving in New Zealand from his native Karimnagar in the South Indian State of Andhra Pradesh with a Bachelor Degree in Commerce, he gained his National Diploma in Business from NZMA.

He received the ‘Best Business Student Award,’ which included a four-week internship at ANZ Bank, Sponsor of the Award.

“After the internship the bank asked me to apply for a permanent position. NZMA’s employment service, Redfish, coached me prior to the interview and I got the job,” he said.

That was over a year ago. Hemanth is now a full-time Customer Service Officer at the ANZ Bank in Sylvia Park.

“There is no doubt that NZMA helped me get into this role. Without them, it would not have been easily achievable. My career and future have really come together since moving to New Zealand,” he said.

Recognised Qualifications

And for those students wanting to take their studies further, NZMA has a host of pathways both in New Zealand and abroad. Our Diplomas have been accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and Edexcel in the UK.

Edexcel is a leading global education service provider, with its qualifications recognised all over the world. Thanks to these highly respected qualifications, NZMA graduates can enjoy advanced standing at a wide range of universities and polytechnics both in New Zealand and across the globe.

NZMA Business Development and International Business Director Mark Worsop said these qualifications open up a world of opportunities for graduates.

“Locally we have pathways into AUT University, the University of Waikato and Manukau Institute of Technology, while those keen to head abroad can staircase to universities in England, Switzerland and Australia.

“Through our strong employment support at Redfish and our wide range of pathways to higher education, international students are exceptionally well-catered for at NZMA,” he said.

Rosanne Graham is Joint Chief Executive of New Zealand Management Academies Limited based in Auckland.
