A new insurance product, aiming to offer cost-effective solutions to taxi owners and operators has just been launched in New Zealand.
Auckland based FundaGroup Insurance Brokers (FDG) Limited said its Taxi+Rite would be suitable for individuals in the taxi industry.
“This policy has been underwritten by an insurance company that has an A+ rating. It would appeal to a large number of taxi operators in the country,” the firm’s Director Bhopinder Sharma said.
He said Taxi+Rite is a comprehensive taxi insurance cover with online tracking and management of claims.
Safety and security of taxi drivers and operators have been a major concern in New Zealand and the increasing attacks in recent years have raised the need for better insurance cover. But high premium and complicated insurance policies have been a deterrent to most operators in the business.
Mr Sharma claimed that he has been insuring taxis for individuals, fleets and companies for a length of time and that he was keen to promote a product that would not only be affordable but also simple and appealing to those in the industry.
He said FDG was among the first insurance brokering firms in New Zealand to introduce a Taxi & Domestic Insurance Scheme at a competitive premium in 2006.
“We have endeavoured to limit premium rise, without compromising coverage and service since the time taxi drivers from South Island approached us for a cost-effective policy. We understand their challenges and constraints,” Mr Sharma said.
According to him, most insurers shifted away from the taxi insurance in mid 2000 when the market became shaky.
