Interfaith Room at Police College

For Web Edition-Interfaith Prayer Room at Police College- Muslims prayingNew Zealand Police established another precedence on May 29, 2015 with the opening of the first Interfaith Prayer room within the Royal New Zealand Police College, Wellington.

20 prominent Faith representatives joined the Police at the formal inaugural ceremony.

National Ethnic Advisor Inspector Rakesh Naidoo said that the New Zealand Police is a diverse organisation.

“We have now have more than a hundred different ethnic and Iwi represented in the Police force. This historical occasion will mark a milestone in the commitment of the Police to valuing diversity and empathetically meeting the diverse needs of our staff and guests. The Room will serve as a place where people can safely observe their cultural and Faith practices in a quiet and respectful manner,” he said.

According to Inspector Naidoo, the Interfaith Prayer Room will also accommodate a Library with numerous informative books about culture and religion.
