Journalism Scholarship Applications due

Journalism Scholarship.jpgThe last date for submission of completed application forms for the Indian Newslink Journalism Scholarship 2011 is September 30, 2010.

The application form can be downloaded from the AUT University website www.aut.ac.nz (Scholarships).

The completed form should be sent to the School of Communication Studies at the AUT University in Auckland, along with the requisite and relevant documents including an academic transcript, professional CV, evidence of news media experience and/or interest (published stories and references can be attached) and evidence of commitment to journalism excellence.

The scholarship is open to full-time students of the School of Communication Studies who are accepted into one-year postgraduate programmes, such as Postgraduate Diploma in Communication Studies (Journalism) and Bachelor of Communication Studies (Honours). But this scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other grants, awards or scholarships.

The School of Communication Studies Equity and Diversity Committee will determine the recipient with Journalism staff and Indian Newslink.

We launched the Scholarship last year to encourage new entrants to the profession.

Aucklander Imogen Crispe, the first recipient is currently pursuing the course.

Indian Newslink will award one scholarship every year and fund the full tuition fees for a maximum of four papers per semester, including Student Services levy and Students’ Association (AuSM) fee.

The scholarship does not include costs of books, material fees, NZQA and administration charges when changing a programme of study or miscellaneous charges.

The scholarship, offered by this newspaper in conjunction with AUT University, is open to all citizens and permanent residents (irrespective of ethnicity) of New Zealand who meet the eligibility criteria set by the University.
