Largest Fun Run promises family entertainment

New Zealand’s largest fun run and walk, Ports of Auckland Round the Bays will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Waitemata Harbour in Auckland.

Called, ‘Ports of Auckland Round the Bays’ the event will be held at the Quay Street-St Helier’s Bay from 930 am to 1215 pm.

Rainbow of Lycra

“It will be a ‘Rainbow of Lycra’ at the picturesque Waitemata Harbour of Tamaki Makarau, as more than 26,000 people tackle the 8.4 km course. People will be treated to entertainment every 600 metres, keeping runners amped with live music, comedians, cheerleaders and other entertainers,” a notification said.

“With the ambitious goal for ‘Round the Bays’ to become a zero-waste event, the March 2019 Run has a solid benchmark to beat. In 2018, a massive 67% of the waste generated was recycled or reused,” the notification added.

Event for Charity

Tickets priced at $35 for each adult, $20 for children in the five-15 years age group, $5 for children less than five years old, family passes and fitness packages are available.

The notification said that proceeds of tickets sales will be distributed to three Charity Partners, namely, Sea Cleaners Trust, Diabetes New Zealand and Big Buddy Mentoring Trust, with each receiving a share of $60,000 in cash donations

“Proceeds of ticket sales will go towards the event’s three deserving charity partners, Sea Cleaners Trust, Diabetes NZ Auckland branch and Big Buddy Mentoring Trust, with each receiving a share of $60,000 in cash donations for their cause and a $20,000 Stuff media package,” the notification said.
