Man jailed for $1.4 million fraud

A man paid the ultimate price for disloyalty and embezzlement at a family owned security equipment supply company in which he was employed as General Manager.

The Court sentenced Martyn Tewsley Scott to three years and three months in prison on proven charges of fraud.

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) brought the charges against the defendant, saying that Mr Scott had fraudulently transferred more than $1.4 million from the company to his personal bank account through Internet transfer.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and reimbursed $700,000 to the Company.

The presiding judge said that he took into account the defendant’s early guilty plea and the part reimbursement in his verdict.

SFO Chief Executive Adam Feeley said his Office was investigating a large number of cases relating to fraud and corruption.
