The Manukau Counties Junior Cricket team has just returned home after winning the Championship title, beating Waikato Valley A and the Composite team.
The matches were held over the weekend at the ground in Kaipara Flats in Rodney District.
It was however not an easy win for the well-disciplined and talented team, for they had to battle hard against several other qualified teams.
Some outstanding batting and skillful bowling helped to bring the trophy home to the Counties Manukau Cricket Association.
Earlier, the girls lost to Northland in the first game, but were not depressed.
It was an early start on the following day, which saw the Juniors playing fine cricket. intersected with a few cartwheels and some group hugs to come out in flying colours.
The Juniors worked cohesively as a unit, well led by Jaime Swale and Brittany Nagle, on and off the pitch.
This supportive nature of the team saw its players develop and improve throughout the tournament.
