Henry Robinson Luce, Founder of a number of magazines including Time became a journalist “to come as close as possible to the heart of the world.”
That is also the passion of Drisana Chand, our Model of the Fortnight, who loves to travel around the world, meet people, interview dignitaries and celebrities and report about their life, career and achievements.
“I believe that the world is a big place and must be explored by all. No one should be confined to a place forever, because change is good,” she said.
Drisana is a teenager with a big dream. This Newlands College student (NCEA Level 2) is proud of her Indo-Fijian roots, but also loves the hipster culture of Wellington.
Striving towards excellence in everything that she does and plans to do, she awaits the day when she could proudly announce her grades in Journalism.
“The media industry holds promising prospects,” she said.
Dancing is another passion, which has encouraged her to perform at a number of local events and festivals including Diwali.
“I love the adrenaline rush that I feel before going on stage. It is amazing,” she said.
Drisana gathered valuable experience as a participant in Miss India Wellington competition held in the Capital on May 25 (reported in our June 1, 2013 issue).
She said, “I learnt lessons and discovered qualities about myself. I am conscious of my responsibilities as a student and as a daughter of a loving family,” she said.
Reading, writing, dancing, meeting friends and spending time on social networks are among her favourite things.
Drisana adores and respects her parents. “They inspire and motivate me to pursue excellence in life,” she said.
