As she receives her formal graduate degree in Chiropractic on February 15, our Model of the Fortnight Amreeta Goundar will bring pride and joy not only to her family but also to a wide circle of friends and associates.
Indian Newslink readers would identify her instantly as ‘Miss Indianz,’ a title that she won at the contest held in Auckland on September 14, 2013.
“The four-year course at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic was exciting. The internship was well structured and we travelled to Rarotonga to provide free chiropractic care. This was one of the greatest experiences of my life,” she said.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Amreeta is proud of her Fijian origin, and more importantly, her Tamil roots that go back to Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.
The young woman is vivacious and her zeal for life is almost contagious; for her exuberance is symbolic of the crowns that she wears with passion.
“My journey in life has so far been a wonderful and fun-filled experience. As a registered doctor, I look forward to promoting health and wellbeing of the wider communities,” she said.
Amreeta will shortly establish her own clinic called ‘Chiropractic Essence’ in Manukau, and continue as a part-time associate at a Chiropractic practice in Mt Roskill.
She understands her responsibilities well, for she has been a sportswoman since her formative years, playing Soccer and Netball. She is currently in the ‘Waitakere Sangam,’ an all-Indian Woman’s Netball team and has participated in Sangam tournaments in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
“My interests include dancing, fashion and Tamil (my mother tongue). I was delighted to win the ‘Miss Face of Sangam’ title last year. Since then, I have been involved with several Auckland based organisations,” Amreeta said.
