More than a Newspaper, a bouquet of engagement

When Indian Newslink was launched in November 1999, there were no other contenders; and yet, we began with principles of honesty and transparency, humility and friendliness and sincerity of purpose and spirit of service.

Eleven years on, we are no longer alone in the market. But our principles have remained steadfast. We have neither discarded those founding ideals nor succumbed to the pressures of competition. We do not subscribe to price wars, because we are aware that our discerning readers, advertisers and well-wishers would want us to remain what we are and serve them with the same fortitude as we have done for more than a decade since the publication came to exist.

We are happy that over the years, Indian Newslink has won a place in the hearts and minds of tens of thousands of readers, who have been the strongest source of guidance and patronage. In understanding their needs and evolving tastes, we have established a partnership that has stood the test of time.

Indian Newslink will continue to serve them – you advertisers, readers and well-wishers, because you are the master of its destiny.

Our Web Edition

Since its launch in 2000, the Indian Newslink Web Edition is regarded as a significant online resource providing updated information on news and current affairs, business, opinion, community, entertainment, sports and special features. The Web Edition, which is free for all visitors, often carries unabridged but edited versions of original material received from columnists and contributors, with additional pictures and material that are not included in the print edition.

With increasing traffic, averaging 2000 visits a day, the Web Edition is a major source of reading material for growing readership all over the world.

The Business Directory

Indian Newslink launched the Indian Newslink Fastfind Business Directory in 2003. This annual publication, released in June/July, is considered as a treasure house of information of mainly businesses, event management companies and associations of Indian origin. With an index of advertisers and reading material that is relevant for all times, the Directory has become popular for its easy-to-refer information. The Twelfth Edition, released in June 2014, was reflective of the growing diversity among small and medium businesses. It has witnessed great demand and widespread appreciation from advertisers and readers.

Business Awards

The Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards began in 2008 to recognise, reward and celebrate successful businesses based in New Zealand. A Panel of Judges, completely independent of the publication, evaluates the entries received and chooses the finalists and winners in each category. An elaborate entry criteria is in place to ensure that deserving businesses are recognised for the Awards.

Governor-General, Prime Minister, Opposition Leader and Members of Parliament in New Zealand, Mayor of Auckland, India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand and leading businesspersons and professionals are our guests at the annual Awards Night held in November every year.

Our Awards now comprise twelve individual categories, the winner from among which qualifies for the ‘Supreme Business of the Year’ Award. The Categories also include the ‘Best Accountant of the Year’, ‘Best Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ and the ‘Best Businesswoman of the Year’ Awards.

Entries opened on March 1 and closed on August 31, through our dedicated website (www.inliba.com). Finalists and Winners in individual categories and the winner of the ‘Supreme Business of the Year’ Award, decided by the Panel of Judges, will be announced at the Gala Black Tie Cocktails, Sponsors’ Exhibition, Dinner, Entertainment and Awards Presentation Ceremony on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Sky City Convention Centre, Auckland City.

As well as sponsors, other organisations can also advertise on the Awards website.

The Lecture

As a newspaper committed to promoting finer aspects of Community, Corporate, Economic and Social conduct, Indian Newslink has instituted a Lecture to be held as an annual series, principally in Auckland City.

The Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture has been structured as a mark of respect and tribute to Rt Hon Anand Satyanand, who retired as the Governor General of New Zealand after five years in office on August 23, 2011. The inaugural lecture, at which Mr John Allen, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade was the Guest Speaker, was held on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Stamford Plaza Hotel in Auckland.

Wellington based BusinessNZ Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly was the Guest Speaker at the Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture, held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Stamford Plaza. Barrister Brian Stephenson was the Master of Ceremonies.

Auckland based Medtech Global Limited Executive Chairman Vino Ramayah was the Guest Speaker at the Lecture held on July 29, 2013 with well-known Public & Employment Law Specialist Mai Chen as the Master of Ceremonies.

Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, Lady Susan Satyanand, India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, decision makers, corporate and community leaders including Government officials attend the Lecture to carry the benefits of the Lecture to their professional lives.

This project is non-political and non-commercial, intended to bring the best of the intellect available to speak at the annual event. We are hopeful that it would grow and progress as an Institution that befits the name with which it is associated.

Former Secretary General of The Commonwealth, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and current Chief Executive of Regional Facilities Auckland Sir Don McKinnon was the Guest Speaker at the Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture held on July 30, 2014 at Pullman Auckland Hotel. Labour MP Phil Goff was the Master of Ceremonies.

Sports Awards

The growing importance of people of Indian origin in various sports encouraged us to launch the Indian Newslink Indian Sports Awards in 2012. These Awards were the first of its type for the Indian community in New Zealand.

There were 15 individual categories in the 2013 Awards Scheme, the two top winners from which were declared ‘Supreme Sportsman of the Year’ and ‘Supreme Sportswoman of the Year’ Awards. An independent panel of Judges evaluates the entries and decides on the finalists and winners in each category and the winners of the two Supreme Awards.

The encouraging response has motivated us to make improvements in the ensuing years and include more categories if possible to recognise and reward Indian men and women achievers in various sporting activities.
