Multipoint Action Plan moves ahead

2012 is set to be a busy year for the National-led Government.

Parliament is sitting once again, and we are hard at work, building the brighter future that you and your family deserve.

National is firmly committed to responsibly manage government finances and return to Budget surplus in 2014-2015.

This is important because it will help keep the pressure off interest rates, which are the single biggest cost to households, and the exchange rate, which is important for exporters.

We also have a plan to help New Zealand businesses in a globally competitive marketplace.

We will put in place policies that will help our economy become more competitive, productive, through the good times, and bad.

During the election campaign, we released our ‘120 Economic Point Action Plan.’ The Action Plan is our agenda for building a more competitive economy.

You can read some more about this at www.national.org.nz/policy.aspx.

Mixed ownership

Another priority for National is extending the mixed-ownership model to four state-owned energy companies, while reducing the government’s stake in Air New Zealand.

This is an important part of National’s economic plan.

It will allow us to reinvest the proceeds in new assets like schools and hospitals, without having to borrow further from offshore.

We will also deliver better public services for all New Zealanders.

Public services cover a health system you can rely on, an education system that delivers better results for your children, and welfare reform that helps people back into work.

Better public services improve the lives and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

The final priority for the National-led government is to get on with rebuilding Canterbury. 2012 will be about starting to rebuild a vibrant, strong city.

We are totally committed to the reconstruction of Canterbury and I am determined to see that momentum is maintained.

We have a busy programme ahead of us over the next three years as we press on with our plan to build a brighter future.

I look forward to updating the readers of Indian Newslink on our progress. John Key is Prime Minister of New Zealand. The above article is exclusive to Indian Newslink.
