Muslims mark Prophet’s Birthday

Celebrations to mark Eid Milad Un Nabi, Birthday of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him) was held on February 12, 2012 at the Maleola Hall, Mangere, Auckland.

South Auckland Muslim Association (SAMA) hosted the national programme, described as an important historic event.

About 1200 people attended the daylong celebration.

Maulana Sheikh Yousaf Sakafi from Brisbane was the chief guest. Imams and executives from the other Mosques and Islamic Centres in Auckland paid their respects to the Prophet.

Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand Vice-President Javed Iqbal Khan delivered his message to all Muslims on Eid Milad Un Nabi.

The celebration was the second in the annual series conducted by the South Auckland Muslim Association.

Last year it was held at the Telstra Clear Stadium in Manukau.

Pesh Imam of Al Mustafa Masjid (Otahuhu) Maulana Saiyad Yawar Razvi also spoke on the significance of Milad Un Nabi.

SAMA President Mohammed Hasim Khan delivered the welcome address.

Darood O Salaam concluded the programme.

Saiyad Harun is the General Treasurer of the South Auckland Muslim Association.
