Nadro Federal, Winners of Jo Tubuna Memorial Cup
Nasinu Masters, Fiji, Runners-Up at the Jo Tubuna Memorial Cup
Nadro Federal Combined won the Jo Tubuna Memorial Cup ‘Over 35s’ Championship after defeating a much organised Nasinu Masters outfit from Fiji at the final held in Auckland last weekend.
Defending Champion Lautoka Blues did not take part in this year’s competition due to prior commitments of its players.
Sponsored by Humm FM 106.2, the annual Jo Tubuna Memorial Cup tournament featured for the first time an overseas team this year.
The visiting team added to the Fiji environment of the Over 35s matches.
Humm FM 102.6 FM Managing Director Satyen Prasad presented the trophies, promising that his fast-growing radio station would offer ‘bigger and better support’ to future tournaments.
The station’s popular sports reporter Saten Kumar provided the live commentary for the final match.
Iliyaz Daud, Current Commissioner and one of the founders of the New Zealand Veteran Soccer Association, congratulated the Organising Committee for putting together a successful event.
The Committee worked under the guidance of its new President Ayaaz Khan, with the support of James Kado, Kamlesh Naidu, Nur Ahamed, Veran Kutti, Shalendra Narayan and Abbas Ali.
They created a genuine atmosphere of veteran footballers within the resident Fijian community.

Thanking the executives of NZ Fiji AFC, Mangere United and Mangere Centre Park Association for their patronage and assistance, Mr Daud said that the encouragement extended by all concerned would enhance the image of the International Veterans Tournament due to be held in Auckland from January 23 to 28, 2013.
