New Murugan Temple in South Auckland

The New Zealand Thirumurugan Temple Society held ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ (Foundation Ceremony) at its new property in Otahuhu, South Auckland on March 24.

Chief Priest Rajarajeswara Gurukkal performed the religious rites at the property located at 145, Church Street.

The ceremony was a significant milestone in the history of the Society, which currently owns and manages a Temple at 174A Marua Court, Marua Road in Ellerslie.

The new property was purchased last year and as per current schedule, the new Temple will be ready in January 2014.

The Bhoomi Pooja ceremony included Sangalpam, Ganapathy Pooja, Homam and other prayers.

More than 500 devotees attended the event.

They had an opportunity to have their names permanently linked to the new Temple by purchasing and writing their names and stars on the bricks (at $108) that would be placed beneath the Deity.
