Chinese spending spree aims at goalpost

The winter football transfer window has just closed with a huge number of signings completed on the deadline day.

The following are the top transfers of the 2015-2016 Winter Transfer Window.

The China Super League spent a whopping €136 million as the top teams offered irresistibly large sums of money to players willing to make the move.

News in Brief-Gervais Yao Kouassi Web

Gervais €18m

Roma Forward Gervais Yao Kouassi took the €18 million offer to move to Hebei China Fortune. This resulted in a profit of €10 million for the struggling Italian Football Club.

Columbia-born Fredy Guarin received €13 million to move to Shanghai Greenland Shenhua. Some China League clubs completed bigger transfers with 29-year-old Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez to play for Guangzhou Evergrade for €42 million and Chelsea FC Midfielder Ramires made his move to Jiangsu Suning for €32.50 million.

Overall, the China Super League expenditure was almost three times the money spent by Serie A for this transfer window.

Former A C Milan star striker Alexandre Pato has been assigned to Chelsea FC on loan for six months. Pato described the move as ‘a dream come true.’  His former Club will be watching his performance closely.

News in Brief-Alberto Paloschi Web

Paloschi €9.5m

In the English Premier League Transfers, Swansea City completed a €9.5 million Agreement involving Italian striker Alberto Paloschi to bolster their attack for the rest of the season. Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia has completed a € 1.30 million loan move to Newcastle United as they look to escape the relegation zone this season.

Serie A Transfer

ACF Fiorentina has signed Spanish winger Cristian Tello on loan from FC Barcelona for the remainder of the season. Inter Milan has signed Unione Calcio Sampdoria and Italy forward Martin Eder on loan for € 2 million. AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy has signed a contract with Roma for €1.4 (loan). The young Italian forward has already impressed selectors and Football critics after only one game at Roma.

In a shocking last minute development, AC Milan midfield ace and former Manchester City man Nigel de Jong completed a deadline day transfer to Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS (American Soccer League) where he will join England veterans Ashley Cole and Steven Gerard.
