Noah’s ark ready to sail

The New Zealand Nadi Veterans team was formed prior to the first Tournament held at the Avondale College (Auckland) grounds in 2000.

Among the founders was Nur Ahmad (Noah), who played for Eagle, represented Nadi in 1964 and played his first game in the North West League against Ba.

The other two founders were Jeffery Lee and Jiten Patel, who played for Young Ones in Nadi. They beat the much-fancied Suva in a nail-biting semi-final but lost to Ashbury in the 2003 SMS Final. They also bowed out to Lautoka in a close Jo Tubuna final.

The Nadi team has mostly made the last day of the prestigious SMS Cup playing the semi-finals.

This year, with experience and young veterans, Noah’s ark is ready to sail, despite a few jumping ship.

The Nadi Veterans thank the Association for 15 years of brotherhood and an opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones.
